:: AWARDS FOR TACKTICK, NEW ADVANTAGES FOR SAILORS
The world innovator in wireless and solar powered marine electronics recently won two of the industry's most prestigious awards: the IPC Media Electronic Marine Product of the Year and the joint managing director of Tacktick, Clive Johnson, was named Marine Trades Personality of the Year.
Presenting the IPC award, Olympic gold medallist Shirley Robertson said, “Recognised as a bold and striking move when announced in 2002, three years on it is clear that Tacktick's Micronet network instrument range is making a major contribution to the world of marine electronics.”
The Marine Trades award was further confirmation of Tacktick's groundbreaking technology and contribution to the boating community.
Oceantalk, the Australia marketer of Tacktick, was among the first to recognize the potential of the brand. “The future is wireless, there's no doubt about it, and the vision, commitment and sheer technical ability of Tacktick is without equal.
Australians are quick to embrace new technology, we love convenience, and we take our boating seriously – so it is not surprising that their wireless and solar powered solutions have proved so popular down under,” comments Robin Kydd, Managing Director of Oceantalk.
The awards coincided with the 2006 London Boat Show and it was at the show that Tacktick launched two new product lines - both now available through Oceantalk.
The first is a wireless palm sized Remote Display offering a combination of readout options. In typical Tacktick fashion, the simplicity of the programming makes it the most flexible Remote on the market.
The other newcomer is a range of high contrast, super large wireless display instruments designed for racing and large yachts: sailors can attach the display to the mast in minutes without the cost and hassle of running wires and the huge 50mm digit displays shows a single, accurate line of data that can be seen from anywhere on board.
